International Tribunal protests destruction of crime scene evidence in Kamloops – Human rights observers are dispatched to protect mass grave of aboriginal children as Cease and Desist notice is issued – Witnesses and traditional elders to hold ceremony and protest at dig site
Brussels and Vancouver:
The Tribunal that successfully prosecuted Canada, the British Crown, and the Vatican for Crimes against Humanity in 2013 is sending human rights observers to Kamloops, British Columbia. Their purpose is to monitor the unearthing of children’s remains at the former Catholic Indian residential school and prevent the destruction of crime scene evidence.
The International Tribunal of Crimes of Church and State (ITCCS) today notified the state-funded Tk’emlups Band Council, the Government of Canada and the Roman Catholic Church of the dispatching of its observers to Kamloops. The ITCCS reminded these parties that the unearthing of the remains of children by the agencies responsible for their death constitutes an obstruction of justice and a crime under international law.
“As convicted criminal bodies responsible for the death of over 60,000 children in Indian residential schools, agencies of the Crown in Canada must immediately cease and desist from any further destruction of the evidence of their crimes against the innocent. The concealment of genocide is as felonious as the original crime” declares the ITCCS letter.
The evidence of buried children at the Kamloops school was first made public in June 1998 by the present ITCCS Canadian Field Secretary, Kevin Annett, at a United Nations-sponsored Tribunal in Vancouver.
As well, in the spring of 2010, Annett issued to native groups, the media, and the police a list of twenty-two mass graves of residential school children across Canada, including at the Kamloops school – with no response. Annett said today,
“What’s happening this week in Kamloops is like the Nazis commencing their own investigation of human remains at Auschwitz. The state-funded native band councils have known for decades of these mass graves of their own relatives and they have done nothing. Now suddenly they’re digging in secret, without saying if there’ll be any forensic analysis to determine how the children died and who killed them. This is yet another sordid coverup designed to protect the killers of these children. And we’ll be there to shine a light on it.”
Traditional native elders and ITCCS observers will be holding a joint ceremony and “witnessing protest” at the site of the Kamloops dig at the Tk’emlups Heritage Park.
More news and video postings will be forthcoming.
